Childminder agency ViaViela is the largest childminder agency (gastouderbureau) in the Netherlands with 40 locations spread across the entire country. Since our founding in 2005, our childminders (gastouders) have cared for more than 225,000 children. We offer parents personal mediation in finding a suitable childminder in their own neighbourhood. ViaViela stands for small-scale childcare in a homely environment where children feel safe and secure. Our childminders are carefully screened and selected, and are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK). Parents receive a dedicated contact person who guides them from the search for a childminder through to daily care. For parents
ViaViela helps parents find a suitable childminder (gastouder) in their own neighbourhood. We offer personal mediation and guidance from A to Z, from the first conversation to daily care. Parents are assigned a dedicated contact person who helps them find a childminder that matches their wishes and needs. Our childminders provide small-scale care in a homely environment, where children receive the attention they need to develop well. All childminders are registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang) and meet all legal requirements.
Subsidy & costs
Childminder (gastouder) care through ViaViela is formal childcare, which means parents can claim childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Tax and Customs Administration. This benefit is income-dependent and can be applied for via Mijn Toeslagen using a DigiD. Parents can apply for benefit for up to 230 hours of care per child per month. ViaViela helps parents calculate their net care costs after deduction of childcare benefit. The agency offers a calculation tool on the website, and contact persons can provide a personalised calculation. An important condition is that parents must be working, studying, following a pathway to work, or taking a civic integration course.
Childminder (gastouder) care through ViaViela consists of two cost components: the childminder's hourly rate (on average €6.25 to €8.95 per child per hour) and the monthly agency fee for mediation and guidance. ViaViela uses an all-in rate with no registration fees; parents only pay from the moment care begins. The agency fee depends on the number of care hours, number of children, and region. After deduction of childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag), net costs can come to approximately €0.50 per child per hour or more, depending on personal circumstances. ViaViela offers an online calculation tool and personalised calculations.
Trust & screening
Before parents meet a childminder (gastouder), ViaViela has already found and assessed them. Our screening and selection includes: verification of all required diplomas, checking the care location for safety and hygiene, registration in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang), and regular visits by the dedicated contact person. Childminders must meet all conditions of the Childcare Act and are supported with continuous professional development and pedagogical guidance. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) additionally checks every two years whether childminders continue to meet the set criteria.
ViaViela and all affiliated childminders (gastouders) are registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang/LRK) and meet all legal quality requirements. Each location is inspected annually by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) and receives an inspection report. ViaViela holds a Dispute-Free certificate from the Childcare Disputes Committee. Childminders are regularly visited by their dedicated contact person to check whether the care location meets all safety and hygiene regulations. ViaViela has an internal complaints procedure in accordance with the Childcare Act, and each location has a parent committee that safeguards the interests of parents and children.
