Gastouderbureau Tante Muis

By arranging childcare through Gastouderbureau Tante Muis, you are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Dutch Tax Administration. This means you can have a large percentage of your childcare costs reimbursed. The amount of the benefit is income-dependent and is calculated against the maximum hourly rate set by the Childcare Act (€8.49 per child in 2026). The recommended rate at Gastouderbureau Tante Muis is €8.70 per child per hour (for 2026), of which €7.50 goes to the childminder. Because you pay per hour rather than per half-day, childminder care is often more economical than other forms of childcare. You only pay for the hours you actually use, offering flexibility and cost control. The maximum hourly rate under the Childcare Act is €8.49 (2026), against which the Dutch Tax Administration calculates the childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag). Our rate is slightly above this, but the benefit is always calculated against the maximum amount.

The screening of childminders (gastouders) at Tante Muis is thorough and meets all legal requirements. Every potential childminder must satisfy four core conditions: a recognised diploma (minimum level 2 Social Care Assistant), a valid paediatric first aid certificate, a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) for themselves and any adult household members, and an approved risk assessment of the home. Only when all these documents are in order and the GGD has checked the risk assessment is the childminder entered into the National Childcare Register (LRK). Only registered childminders may provide care through our agency.

Gastouderbureau Tante Muis is a registered childminder agency (LRK number: 101219118) and is inspected annually by the GGD (Municipal Health Service). All childminders must meet strict legal requirements: they must hold a recognised diploma (at minimum, Social Care Assistant level 2), a valid paediatric first aid certificate, a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) for the childminder and any adult household members, and an approved risk assessment of the home. Only after registration in the National Childcare Register (LRK) may a childminder begin working. Our agency carries out annual checks with childminders, including evaluations, risk assessments and unannounced visits.
