Gastouderbureau CoCo offers parents a personal and flexible form of childcare in a homely atmosphere. Unlike daycare centers (kinderdagverblijven/KDV) or after-school care (BSO), childminder care (gastouderopvang) offers a small-scale and warm environment where your child is cared for by a regular childminder (gastouder). This creates a personal bond of trust in which your child feels safe. The care can be adapted to the number of hours you actually need, which can be financially advantageous in combination with childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag).
Subsidy & costs
Parents are entitled to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) because Gastouderbureau CoCo and all affiliated childminders (gastouders) are included in the National Childcare Register. Through the tax authorities, you get the majority of childcare costs back in the form of a monthly allowance. The amount of this allowance depends on your (joint) income. CoCo points parents to the handy calculator on the tax authorities' website where you can calculate how much you will be reimbursed.
The costs for childminder care (gastouderopvang) at CoCo consist of two parts: care costs to the childminder (gastouder) (a fixed amount per hour) and agency costs to the childminder agency (fixed costs per month). From 1 January 2025, the agency costs are €40.00 per month for the first child or €80.00 per month for a family. There is no minimum number of hours. The recommended rate for childminder care is between €7.25 and €8.25 per hour for daytime care (0-4 years) and after-school care (BSO) (4-12 years). Evening and weekend rates are €1.00 per hour extra, the night rate is €15.00 per night.
Trust & screening
All childminders (gastouders) at Gastouderbureau CoCo undergo thorough screening. They must hold at least an MBO-2 Social Care Assistant diploma or experience certificate and a Paediatric First Aid diploma. In addition, childminders are assessed on their qualities and the suitability of their care environment. After placement, annual evaluation meetings take place and risk assessments are carried out. The GGD directly supervises care in the homes where children are looked after.
