About this care
Welcome to EDEN childcare on an anthroposophical basis, located in a homely atmosphere at Wagenweg 6 in Haarlem. We provide small-scale care for up to 12 children per day, aged 1 to 4 years. Our approach is based on anthroposophical pedagogy, paying attention to the rhythm of the day, seasons and the development of each child. We work with fixed daily routines that provide peace and security, tailored to the natural needs of young children. There is room for free play, creative activities such as painting and crafts, and we pay a lot of attention to outdoor play in our own garden. We use a vertical group structure, where children of different ages play and learn together. Our pedagogical staff are specialized in anthroposophical childcare and give each child the personal attention they deserve. We provide organic meals and snacks, taking into account any allergies or dietary requirements. There is a separate bedroom where children can rest when they need it. At EDEN we find it important that children feel safe and at home, so that they can develop optimally in a familiar environment.Read more

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) EDEN in Haarlem, a small-scale anthroposophical childcare location for 14 children aged 1 to 4, was inspected on 7 May 2026 by Municipal Health Service (GGD) Kennemerland. The location meets most quality requirements, including pedagogical policy, pedagogical practice, safety and health, and parental rights. The parent committee is very satisfied with the quality of care. However, there is a structural issue with the IKK language requirement: one of the two staff members does not yet have the required language level B2. The staff member has actively worked on language improvement (from A1 to A2, and is enrolled for B1), and there is an action plan. Nevertheless, this remains a violation. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises enforcement focused on sustainable recovery, with room for the current efforts.
