About this care
Welcome to Daycare De Zandbak, part of Kappio childcare, located at C. de Leeuwstraat 14 in 't Zand. We provide a safe foundation for the youngest children in a warm, homely environment. Our daycare group is specially designed for children aged 0 to 3 years. We believe it's important that children can be themselves and learn to trust in their own abilities. Autonomy plays a major role in this. By giving children space to make choices and take initiative, we strengthen their self-confidence and independence.
Our toddler group works closely with the primary school. Through this collaboration, we create a smooth transition and offer a continuous learning line that connects well with grade 1. This ensures that toddlers are prepared step by step for the next phase in their development. A wonderful addition to our offering is playing together with the after-school care (BSO). At various times, toddlers come into contact with BSO children. The toddler group classroom is often shared in the afternoon with the (youngest) BSO children. These encounters are valuable: they stimulate social skills, mutual respect, and the feeling of being part of a larger whole.

- Insufficient description in the safety and health policy of how the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) is organized so that staff members can be seen or heard by another adult
- Excessive temperatures in sleeping areas (up to 27.1°C) without documented monitoring and insufficient concrete measures in the action plan
Summary
Municipal Health Service (GGD) Hollands Noorden conducted an unannounced follow-up inspection on 3 July 2026 at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Zandbak in 't Zand (part of Kappio). This inspection followed earlier violations from October 2025 and January 2026. The location was found to have taken insufficient measures within the set timeframe. Two main violations were identified: failure to timely report changes regarding the sleeping area to the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang), and the absence of an up-to-date safety and health policy with a concrete action plan. The toddler sleeping area was not officially permitted as such, and temperatures in the sleeping areas were too high (up to 27.1°C). Additional measures such as fans and an Airteq system were only taken after the inspection. The GGD advises enforcement action.
