About this care
De Vlinderboom op School offers preschool/toddler care with toddler group Tummetot in Alkmaar, located within the Rudolf Steinerschool Alkmaar. Like the school, we work from the principles of anthroposophical pedagogy. This way, toddlers become familiar with the warm environment and atmosphere of the free school even before their primary school years begin.
Calm, rhythm and attention form the foundation of our days. We start the morning together in circle time, after which there is plenty of room for free play and activities that suit the day and the seasons, such as baking bread rolls and creative pursuits. We share organic-biodynamic meals together and experience the seasons through stories, songs and natural materials.
Our childcare professionals give attention to every child and carefully follow their development. The familiar daily rhythm and recurring rituals provide stability and contribute to an environment where children feel safe and seen. This gives toddlers all the space they need to play, discover and grow at their own pace.
Children from age 2 are welcome. The toddler mornings have a drop-off window from 8:15 to 8:30 am. Between 12:15 and 12:30 pm, children can be picked up again. For a familiar rhythm, we work with fixed days: Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday.
The toddler group is open 40 weeks per year and follows the rhythm of the Rudolf Steinerschool Alkmaar. During the school's in-service training days, the toddler group remains open.
This location offers early childhood education (VE) and works with an adapted childcare policy. Depending on their personal situation, parents may use childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) or a municipal subsidy for preschool/toddler care.
Children who use toddler group Tummetot for at least one year may receive priority on the waiting list for the Rudolf Steinerschool Alkmaar.Read more
