About this care
De Sterrenhoeve is a green toddler day-care centre located in the former petting-zoo building in the Krakeel district of Hoogeveen. Outdoor play is at the heart of everything we do: children spend 80 % of their time outside and at most 20 % indoors. Our nature garden and discovery yard are used intensively, allowing your child to play, explore and learn to their heart’s content. We ask parents to dress their child in old, weather-appropriate clothing; rain suits and ski trousers are available on site.
Each morning or afternoon session follows a fixed daily rhythm. This structure helps toddlers feel secure within the group and their new environment. We work with the Uk & Puk programme and our pedagogical staff are trained in Peutersprongen. Children who need extra support may qualify for a pre-school education (VE) place; a VE indication is required.
We maintain active contact with primary schools Apollo and De Morgenster, the child health clinic, the library and SWWH. Parents, of course, remain the key contact. You can register your child free of charge and without obligation; care is offered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 08:30-12:30 and Monday afternoons from 13:00-15:30.Read more

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De Sterrenhoeve in Hoogeveen (Stichting Spelerwijs) provides pre-school education to a maximum of 24 toddlers aged 2-4 years in three groups. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 2 October 2025 concludes that the location meets statutory requirements in all assessed areas (pedagogical climate, staff and groups, safety and health, parental rights). The pedagogical policy is current and implemented by the team; the centre uses the Uk & Puk 2.0 method. All staff hold a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG), are properly registered, and hold the required pre-school education certificate and language proficiency level 3F. There is a comprehensive safety and health policy, an up-to-date domestic violence reporting protocol, and an adequate complaints procedure. Parents are informed via the website, intake process, and newsletters; a parent committee is not mandatory given the small scale. No complaints have been reported. The licence holder receives no recovery offer, and the municipal executive is advised not to take enforcement measures.
