Christelijk Gastouderbureau De Herberg is the first and largest Christian childminder agency (gastouderbureau) in the Netherlands, active since 2006. We provide small-scale Christian childminder care (gastouderopvang) throughout the Netherlands. As an agency, we match parents with professional Christian childminders (gastouders), with personal attention and a safe, homely environment at the heart of everything we do. Our placement staff are pedagogically trained professionals who guide parents in finding the right childminder and ensure the quality of care. A childminder (gastouder) has an eye for every child thanks to the small group size, which ensures optimal development in a safe environment. Our childminders are pedagogically trained professionals who have been screened by us and registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang). Subsidy & costs
Parents can apply for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Tax Authority for childminder care (gastouderopvang) through De Herberg. All our childminders (gastouders) are registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang/LRK), which is a requirement for receiving benefit. We guide parents in calculating and applying for the benefit, offer a calculation tool to work out net costs, and handle monthly invoicing and annual statements. As an agency, we act as cashier, which means that financial flows go through us and we report hours to the Tax Authority for childcare benefit verification.
The costs of childcare through Christelijk Gastouderbureau De Herberg consist of two components: the childminder fee and the agency costs. Together these determine the gross hourly rate, which parents submit when applying for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag). Parents receive benefit back on this gross rate. The agency offers a calculation tool with which parents can calculate how much benefit they will receive and what their net monthly costs will be. Childminder care (gastouderopvang) is generally more affordable than daycare centers (kinderdagverblijven/KDV). For care at the parents' home, a custom quote is prepared.
Trust & screening
We thoroughly screen all childminders (gastouders) before they join our agency. Childminders must meet all requirements of the Childcare Act, including a Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag/VOG), suitable home, pedagogical training, and first aid certificate (EHBO). We conduct personal intake interviews, assess the care location for safety and health, and register childminders in the National Childcare Register. After placement, we continue to support childminders with regular visits, evaluation meetings, and refresher training such as first aid recertification and themed evenings.
Christelijk Gastouderbureau De Herberg is a recognized childminder agency (gastouderbureau) registered with the Municipal Health Service (GGD). All childminders (gastouders) are registered in the National Childcare Register (Landelijk Register Kinderopvang/LRK), which entitles parents to childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag). The GGD inspects our agency annually to check whether we meet all quality requirements of the Childcare Act. Inspection reports are publicly available. Pedagogical vision
The pedagogical goal of De Herberg is for children to develop as optimally as possible, in their own way, within a familiar environment, into independent and balanced individuals who have respect for themselves and for others. We assume that every child has a need to develop, each in their own way and at their own pace, depending on aptitude and temperament.
