About this care
Welcome to it Berneplakje, our after-school care location at Buorsterwyk 36 in Lippenhuizen. We are part of Kinderwoud, a social childcare organization active throughout Friesland. At it Berneplakje, we provide after-school care for up to 20 children aged 4 to 13 years.
We work from Kinderwoud's pillars: learning through play, movement, music and healthy nutrition. Our pedagogical staff provide a warm, secure atmosphere in which every child has room to develop. Every child is GEZien! These core values are central to everything we do: Security, Individuality and Self-development.
Our activity program is compiled through DoenKids, our digital activity program. This always includes movement and music activities, creative workshops and healthy cooking and baking activities. We work thematically, connecting with current events and the children's interests. Think of themes like 'Do you feel what I feel' where emotions are central, or 'Backpack yourself crazy' where we travel to different countries during summer.

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy and practice meet statutory requirements; children receive sensitive and responsive guidance
- All staff members hold a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) and are properly registered in the Childcare Personnel Register

- Change in number of childcare places not reported to municipality: the National Childcare Register (LRK) listed 20 places while the location only cared for 18 children and the available space was also aligned with this
- Insufficient registration of children and staff attendance: arrival and departure times were not fully recorded, making compliance with the staff-child ratio unverifiable
- Insufficient indoor play space: for 20 childcare places, only 3.25 m² per child was available instead of the mandatory 3.5 m²
Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection on 18 June 2026 at after-school care (BSO) it Berneplakje in Lippenhuizen, a franchise of Kinderwoud, showed a mixed picture. The location provides care for 18 children (ages 4-13) in the community center (MFA). Although the pedagogical climate, staff requirements for Certificates of Conduct (VOGs), group stability, parent information, and alternative parent consultation were compliant, there were three shortcomings. The provider had not reported a change from 20 to 18 childcare places in the National Childcare Register (LRK), the attendance registration of children and staff was insufficient making the staff-child ratio unverifiable, and the indoor play space was too small for 20 children (3.25 m² per child instead of 3.5 m²). All violations have been resolved through a recovery offer: the LRK has been adjusted to 18 places and the registration issues have been resolved. The advice to the municipality is: no enforcement action.
