BSO Hasseltse Poorten

Our after-school care Hasseltse Poorten is located right inside primary school Hasseltse Poorten, in the Hasselt neighbourhood of Tilburg Oud Noord. We offer a small-scale, cosy BSO for a maximum of 11 children per group. Children who attend this primary school can come straight to us after class. Our pedagogical professionals collect the younger children from their classroom, while older pupils make their own way to the BSO. We use every space the school has to offer: the playroom, the playground, the creative studio in the attic and our wonderful discovery garden. This garden is set up for water and sand play and for spotting little creatures. We also venture out into the neighbourhood: we play football on the school yard, visit a nearby petting farm or set off on a local exploration walk. When the weather is poor we use the gym for climbing, jumping and ball games. The children themselves decide what they need after a busy school day. A large communal table invites them to share a snack and a drink while swapping stories. In our creative studio they can paint at real easels like true Picassos. Those who prefer to unwind can sink into beanbags and books in our chill corner. We regularly cook and bake together and let the children help plan activities and choose new materials. During school holidays and teacher-training days we are open all day from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We then team up with BSO Tierentijn on Pastoriestraat, giving us even more scope for exciting activities and trips. Our site is linked to the old Hasselt church, neighbourhood centre De Poorten, De Toegang and R-Newt, creating a familiar and welcoming environment for the children.
