About this care
Welcome to Oberon Sport, our sports-oriented after-school care located at d’Almarasweg 33 in Nijmegen. We provide care for up to 44 children aged 6 to 12 years who love movement and sports. Our location is beautifully situated at the Noviomagum korfball club, right next to the Mariënbosch sports park.
At Oberon, everything revolves around sports and play. Children can play football, hockey, tennis, go mountain biking, skating and scootering. We make full use of the large outdoor area: swinging, climbing, sliding – anything is possible! When weather is poor, we move the sports activities indoors where we do creative games and sports.
Besides sports, we also offer quiet moments. Inside, children can enjoy crafting, reading or building a large train track. Every Friday is our special “pamper day”. Then as “The Explorers” we regularly go on outings – just like being on holiday!
Our enthusiastic team consists of Orlando (coordination), Laura (play), Jasper and Jelle (sports), Naomi (play) and Sky (facilities). Together we create a safe, sporty and fun environment where children can completely be themselves.

Strengths
- The pedagogical policy is implemented well, with varied sports and play activities
- Children can independently choose from various activities indoors and outdoors
- Children's independence is encouraged, such as cutting their own fruit

- Staff-child ratios and the three-hour rule are applied correctly
- Stable care environment with fixed base groups and mentorship
- Administration and parent agreements are in order

- Violation regarding the establishment of a parent committee: the committee has only 1 member, whereas a minimum of 2 members is mandatory (Article 1.58(1) and (2) of the Childcare Act)
- Recovery offer regarding the parent committee regulations: the old regulations contained incorrect rules on the number of members (minimum of 1 instead of 2)
Summary
After-school care (BSO) Oberon Sport in Nijmegen was inspected on 3 March 2026. The location does not meet all quality requirements. A violation was identified regarding the establishment of a parent committee: the committee currently has only 1 member, while a minimum of 2 members is mandatory. The provider received a recovery offer for the parent committee regulations, which do comply after recovery. In other areas such as pedagogical climate, staffing, administration, and stability of care, the after-school care (BSO) does meet the requirements. The advice to the municipality is to enforce, with the mitigating circumstance that the provider is demonstrably making efforts to recruit more parents for the committee.
