About this care
BSO de Kleine Pijler is located inside primary school De Kleine Pijler at Rijtuigweg 1 in the Feyenoord district of Rotterdam. We provide after-school care for up to 40 children aged 4 to 12, divided into two groups of 20 children each. Our spacious group rooms are warmly decorated with challenging play materials and dedicated corners such as an art studio, craft area, construction zone, doll corner and quiet reading nook.
Every week we organise varied workshops: sports activities in the gym, cooking workshops in the kitchen or creative afternoons. During school holidays we create an activity programme together with the children, including fun excursions in Rotterdam. We partner with primary schools De Wissel, De Clipper and OBS De Pijler, allowing us to collect children directly after school.
Our after-school care is open every weekday from 7.30 am to 6.30 pm, with extended care available from 7.00 am. We are open 52 weeks a year and offer flexibility by allowing parents to swap care days. The location is easily accessible by public transport and there is ample paid parking nearby.Read more

Summary
BSO Kleine Pijler in Rotterdam provides after-school care (BSO) for up to 40 children aged 4 to 13 years. The inspection took place on 19 August 2025. The pedagogical climate and pedagogical practice were assessed positively: children experience emotional safety, are playfully challenged in their development and learn social skills. All staff members also meet the qualification requirements and are correctly registered. However, there were two areas for improvement. First, it was insufficiently clear whether the staff-child ratio was always achieved due to missing break and attendance times in the administration. Second, several safety measures were not followed in practice, such as the accessibility of knives, cleaning products and a loose cord from window covering. Following a recovery offer, the provider submitted additional documentation and photographs showing that the ratios are now correct and that the safety risks have been removed. The municipality is advised not to enforce, as all requirements are being met.
