About this care
BSO HaGu is located at Iepenlaan 6 in Veghel and is part of HaGu Kinderdagverblijf ’t Leeuwtje. We provide after-school care for up to 40 children aged 4 to 12. Our groups, named ‘de Panters’ and ‘de Puma’s’, are organized horizontally so children can play, explore, and unwind with peers after a school day.
We pick up children from various primary schools in the area and offer a safe, homely environment where they can relax. Children are free to choose their activities—whether it’s playing games, crafting, running outside, or simply doing nothing. Our qualified staff are always ready to support, guide, and have fun together.

Strengths
- The pedagogical policy is described in concrete terms, and staff members connect with children's interests and initiatives
- VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct)/PRK registration and staff diplomas are correctly recorded

- New staff members rely on meeting minutes for knowledge of the reporting protocol; active instruction at the start of employment is recommended

- Acting in accordance with safety and health policy: insufficient hand hygiene (children and staff did not wash hands before the fruit snack, not always after using the toilet), the toilet area was not clean and structural cleaning was absent, refrigerator temperature was not structurally recorded
- Reporting, consultation, and duty to notify: staff member was unaware of the possibility to consult with the confidential inspector, information was missing from the step-by-step plan
Summary
GGD Hart voor Brabant conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 30 July 2026 at after-school care (BSO) Hagu ('t Leeuwtje) in Veghel, a private after-school care facility for a maximum of 40 children (ages 4–13). The facility meets the quality requirements for pedagogical climate and staffing and groups. However, two violations were identified regarding safety and health: staff did not act in accordance with the safety and health policy (insufficient hand hygiene, toilet cleaning, and refrigerator temperature monitoring), and the reporting, consultation, and duty to notify was insufficiently known among staff members. The operator made use of the recovery offer. At the second visit on 2 September 2026, all measures were found to have been successfully implemented. The advice to the municipality is: no enforcement action.
