About this care
Welcome to Kidz-Plaza, located at Kerkstraat 233 in the heart of Hoogezand. We are an association offering both daycare and after-school care (BSO). Our location provides a safe and loving environment where children aged 4 to 12 can grow and relax after school. With a maximum capacity of 16 children, we ensure small-scale and personal care.
At Kidz-Plaza, we believe it’s important for children to feel at home. Our childcare professionals create a homely atmosphere with room for play, relaxation, and development. The spaces are designed to challenge and stimulate children both indoors and outdoors. We offer a familiar place where children can play, do crafts, enjoy outdoor activities, and do homework when needed.
Our location on Kerkstraat is easily accessible and features a spacious garden where children can play freely. We work closely with parents and local schools to ensure our care meets the needs of each child. At Kidz-Plaza, fun in development is central, in an environment that is safe, familiar, and stimulating.

Strengths
- Pedagogical practice meets the four basic objectives: emotional security, personal competence, social competence, and socialization
- Staff are adequately trained and hold the correct diplomas and Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG)
- Sufficient staff-child ratio and presence of first-aid-certified personnel
- Accommodation is safe, accessible, and appropriately furnished
- Administration is complete and available to the supervisory authority in a timely manner
- Dutch as the language of communication is used correctly
Shortcomings
- Pedagogical policy must be consistent with actual practice (not a combination group but separate daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) and after-school care (BSO))
- Schedules and rosters must clearly distinguish between daycare center (KDV) and after-school care (BSO) staff
- Communication to parents and municipality regarding actual opening days and hours must be more transparent

- Safety and health - reporting, consultation, and notification obligations: knowledge about the confidential inspector for childcare was not readily available among staff (resolved after recovery offer)
- Parent rights - content of parent committee regulations: missing description of the method of electing members (resolved after recovery offer)
Summary
This inspection report concerns an unannounced investigation following registration of kidz-plaza, an after-school care (BSO) in Hoogezand with 11 child places on the first floor (adjacent to a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) with 16 places on the ground floor). The inspection on 15 June 2026 only took place after several failed attempts due to deviating opening days and empty care provision. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) found that the location meets the requirements for general terms and conditions, accommodation, and pedagogical practice. Violations were identified, however, in the area of pedagogical policy (practice did not align with policy), mentorship, reporting, consultation and notification obligations, and the parent committee regulations. Three violations were resolved through a recovery offer. The operator indicated in her response that the combination group has since been dissolved and the BSO now operates independently.
