About this care
Welcome to IKC Kethel BSO, located at Lindeijerstraat 14 in Schiedam. As part of the Christian integral child center UN1EK, we provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 13. Our BSO is open before and after school hours and on free school days outside school holidays. Our pedagogical staff provide a varied and challenging range of activities where children of different ages play and learn together.
Our before-school care is open from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM. For parents who need to drop off their children earlier, extended before-school care from 7:00 AM including breakfast is available upon request. After-school care is open from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM. In between, children receive a healthy snack such as fruit, a rice cake or cracker.
During school holidays, we offer vacation care on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, vacation care is provided at IKC De Ark. Four weeks before each school holiday, you can view the vacation programs and register your child(ren) via the UN1EK website.
Our location is centrally located in Schiedam North and easily accessible. We operate from a Christian identity where nature and movement are central. Children have the space to discover, play and develop in a familiar, hospitable and safe environment.Read more

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy and practice are in order; children feel emotionally safe and are playfully challenged.
- Sufficient and properly qualified staff present; all employees registered in the Persons Register and in possession of a Certificate of Conduct (VOG).
- Domestic violence reporting protocol is in place and known to the team; designated safeguarding officer is active.
- Parents are informed via the website about policy, inspection reports, and the disputes committee.
Shortcomings
- Knowledge about the duty to report, consult, and file official charges in case of suspected abuse by the licence holder was insufficiently disseminated.
Summary
IKC Kethel BSO in Schiedam provides after-school care (BSO) for up to 60 children aged 4–12. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 1 April 2025 shows predominantly good quality: the pedagogical climate is positive, staff are sufficiently and properly qualified, safety protocols for domestic violence are in place, and parents are well informed. There was one area for improvement: not all staff knew that suspected abuse by the licence holder requires contacting the confidential inspector and filing a report with the police. The organisation received a recovery offer, accepted it, and submitted a plan with follow-up actions within five working days. The requirement is now fulfilled. The municipality is advised not to enforce.
