About this care
Welcome to IKC Jan Ligthart, located at Plein Emaus 6 in Vlaardingen. As an integral child center, we are part of Wijzer in Opvang en Onderwijs and provide both education and childcare under one roof. Our location at Plein Emaus is specially designed for children from 0 to 6 years old, with our after-school care (BSO) focusing on children up to 6 years.
At IKC Jan Ligthart, we work according to the principle of a continuous line between childcare and education. This means there is a seamless transition between the school day and after-school care, with attention to care and warm transfer. We tailor our approach to the needs and possibilities of each child, from extra challenge to just a bit more guidance.
Our BSO offers children a familiar and safe environment after school hours, with professional pedagogical staff who put your child's development first. As an integral child center, we can optimally collaborate between the different components of our center, ensuring a consistent approach throughout the day.

Summary
The annual inspection of 10-11-2025 at IKC Jan Ligthart (BSO) in Vlaardingen shows that the after-school care (BSO) meets all assessed quality requirements. The pedagogical policy is clear and extensively documented, with concrete agreements on responsible care, identification of developmental particularities, mentoring arrangements, base groups, staffing and holiday care. In practice, staff work sensitively, responsively and stimulatingly; children experience emotional safety, are playfully challenged in motor, cognitive, language and creative skills, and receive support in social interaction. All staff hold the required qualifications, Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and correct registration in the Persons Register; the staff-to-child ratio was in order at all inspected moments.
