About this care
Welcome to BSO EDO, our welcoming after-school care facility located at Mr. Jan Gerritszlaan 2 in Haarlem. We provide care for up to 60 children aged 4 to 12 years. As part of Kinderopvang Midas, we believe in active learning and joyful play in a homely atmosphere.
Our location features a beautiful conservatory and spacious sports fields where children can enjoy football and play in a safe environment. We utilize the adjacent football club facilities and regularly explore the Schoterbos for nature experiences. Our outdoor areas are large and challenging, perfect for children who love to stay active.
We implement the Kaleidoscoop methodology as the foundation for our pedagogical approach. This means we encourage children to make their own choices and discover their talents. We provide homework support and regularly organize fun excursions during school holidays. Our core values include child participation, outdoor activities, sports, all without gaming computers.

Violations
- A trainee was only registered in the persons register and linked to the holder 3 days after first deployment (3 September 2025), on 5 September 2025
- A staff member was only linked to the holder on 26 February 2025, despite having been deployed on 7 January 2025 (nearly two months too late)
- The safeguarding plan by Midas to prevent VOG linking problems is not being implemented and is not effective
- The same staff member (substitute worker) was also not linked in a timely manner at another BSO location of Midas
Summary
GGD Kennemerland conducted an unannounced annual inspection on 14 October 2025 at BSO EDO in Haarlem, part of Kinderopvang Midas. The location provides care for 60 children aged 4 to 13 years. The pedagogical practice was assessed positively: children experience emotional safety and staff act in accordance with the pedagogical policy. The safety and health policy also meets requirements. A recovery offer was made for the lack of concrete descriptions in the pedagogical policy regarding base groups and staffing deployment; this has since been resolved. However, a serious violation was identified: a trainee and a staff member were not linked to their Certificate of Conduct (VOG) in the persons register in a timely manner (3 days and nearly two months late, respectively). This is a recurring problem at Midas; the safeguarding plan proves ineffective. The GGD advises enforcement.
