About this care
De Kleine Walvis is a small-scale after-school care facility (BSO) located at Holendrecht 57 in Abcoude. We provide care for a maximum of 4 children aged 4 to 12 years. The location is part of the Walvis organization, which operates multiple childcare locations in Abcoude. Since May 16, 2013, we have been officially registered in the National Childcare Register under number 890576518.
Our BSO focuses on providing a safe and familiar environment where children can relax after school and play with peers. Due to our limited size, we can offer personal attention and respond to the individual needs of each child.
We work closely with primary schools in the immediate vicinity of Abcoude, including the Christelijk Nationale Basisschool Abcoude which is located only 195 meters away. This makes dropping off and picking up children easy and safe.

Summary
Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) De kleine Walvis in Abcoude provides care for up to 12 children aged 3-7 years in one combined group. The inspection took place on 10 February 2025. The pedagogical climate meets all requirements: the policy is clear, practice is responsive and provides children with emotional safety and calm. There is a robust procedure for settling in, extra days and replacement of permanent staff. All staff members are qualified, registered in the personnel register and speak Dutch. However, the location does not comply with the rule that during adjusted deployment (3-hour rule), at least one other adult must always be present in the building when only one professional is working; this was not the case in the mornings. This violation is repeated (recurrence from 2023). No recovery offer was made. The municipality is advised to enforce.
