About this care
De Kleine Jungle is an out-of-school care facility located at Ommoordseweg 87 in Rotterdam. Our setting is a beautiful recreational area, easily accessible yet deliberately outside the school environment. We pick the children up from school, provide a snack and drink, and then head out on an adventure. Each week revolves around a different theme, allowing us to offer an endless variety of creative, sporty, challenging and educational activities and excursions. There is never a dull moment!
We welcome up to 50 children aged 4 to 13. Our qualified and motivated pedagogical staff have been working together for years as a stable team, ensuring familiar faces and a safe, homely atmosphere. Our philosophy is simple: free time should be spent outside the classroom. By changing the environment we give children a fresh challenge every day and a clear separation between school and leisure. They are free to decide whether to join the daily sports and games or arts-and-crafts activities, or to invent their own adventure.
A unique feature of De Kleine Jungle is that, if desired, we can bring the children home at the end of the day, making it a little easier to combine work and family life. During school holidays we run a special programme packed with fun and educational trips, ensuring the children have an unforgettable time. Summary
De Kleine Jungle in Rotterdam, an after-school care (BSO) for 50 children (ages 4–13), was inspected by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) on 21 May 2026. The pedagogical practice and staff registration comply with the law. However, two violations were identified. The pedagogical policy lacked concrete descriptions regarding exceptions to the staff-to-child ratio and extra day sessions; this has since been resolved through a recovery offer. More seriously, no staff member held a valid Pediatric First Aid (Kinder-EHBO) certificate during the inspection period. Two certificates had expired, while others did not meet the requirements for childcare. In response, the holder had two staff members recertified in July 2026. A point of attention was also noted: one childcare professional lacked supplementary evidence for the correct qualification, but was scheduled as surplus staff. The GGD advises enforcement.
