About this care
De Kastanjetuin is our after-school care (BSO) location situated at Kastanjestraat 26 in Dongen, right next to St. Joseph primary school. We provide care for up to 16 children aged 4 to 12. Our space is divided into different corners where children can relax, build, or do crafts. We overlook a large schoolyard where they can play football, skate, or simply run around and have fun.
At the edge of the yard, we have our own vegetable and herb garden. Children with green fingers can grow their own produce here. We believe it's important for children to unwind after school while also learning new things. That's why we offer a mix of calm and active activities, always tailored to what the children enjoy.
Our pedagogical staff are ready to provide children with a safe and familiar place where they can be themselves. We work from a place of trust and involvement, and keep parents informed about their child's experiences. Everyone is welcome at De Kastanjetuin!Read more

Summary
After-school care (BSO) De Kastanjetuin in Dongen, part of VOF De Tovertuin, was inspected on 7 July 2026 by GGD Hart voor Brabant. The care location accommodates 22 children aged 6 to 13 years in two group rooms at St. Jan primary school. All assessed quality requirements were met: pedagogical policy, staffing matters (Certificate of Good Conduct/VOG, persons register, child ratio, trainee supervision, backup support), group stability with a fixed mentor for each child, and accommodation with sufficient indoor (4.1 m² per child) and outdoor space (>5.2 m² per child). The pedagogical practice showed good examples of child-centred practice and stimulation of independence. No violations or areas for improvement were identified.
