About this care
BSO Zoelen is an after-school care location of RivaKids, located on the grounds of primary school Den Aldenhaag at Jeudestraat 78 in the Betuwe village of Zoelen. We provide care for up to 30 school-age children between 4 and 12 years old. The location is situated right next to the Zoelen forest, allowing us to make full use of the natural environment for our activities.
Our after-school care is open after school hours until 6:30 PM, except on Wednesdays and Fridays. During school holidays and study days, we provide care for children who have booked additional days. We create a safe and familiar environment where children can relax after a school day or actively engage in fun activities.
Our pedagogical staff are ready to give children the space to discover, play and relax. We tailor our activities to the age and interests of the children, offering both quiet moments and active pursuits. The location features a challenging outdoor space where children can romp and play in nature.

Strengths
- Pedagogical policy is well implemented and discussed in team meetings
- All staff members hold valid Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) registrations and are correctly registered in the PRK
- The domestic violence and child abuse reporting protocol meets all requirements
- Parents are adequately informed through the website, parent app and parent portal
- Complaints procedure and affiliation with the disputes committee are in order
- Multiple qualified first aiders present during inspection
Shortcomings
- Hand hygiene requires additional attention: children did not always wash hands before the fruit snack and after using the toilet
- Arrangements regarding unsupervised outdoor play and supervision must be documented in writing
- Checks to ensure outdoor gates are closed must be carried out systematically

Within the set deadline of 24 December 2025, the provider amended the policy and now meets all requirements. Other inspected aspects such as pedagogical policy, staff registration, reporting protocol and parental rights were in order.
