About this care
BSO Octokids is an after-school care facility operated by De Kleine Markies, located at Zuiderdreef 314 in Bergen op Zoom. We provide care for up to 40 children aged 4 to 12 years. Our location works in close collaboration with primary school Octopus, allowing children to come directly to us safely after school hours.
We create a homely and safe environment where children can relax after a busy school day. Our pedagogical staff provide homework assistance and organize various activities tailored to the interests and developmental needs of the children. The focus is on rest, play, and social interaction.

Summary
This inspection report concerns an unannounced incidental investigation into after-school care (BSO) Octokids in Bergen op Zoom, carried out by GGD West-Brabant. The investigation took place following a request from the provider to increase the number of childcare places from 40 to 60. The inspection assessed the modification procedure and accommodation requirements. BSO Octokids is part of B.V. De Kleine Markies and is located in primary school Octopus. The location currently has two group rooms, a play room, and an outdoor area. The provider wishes to take an additional group room (Octo2, 53.1 m²) into use. The supervisory body concludes that the expansion can reasonably proceed in accordance with the quality requirements. No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The new group room was still in use as a staff room during the investigation and had not yet been suitably furnished, but the location manager verbally explained how this will be arranged before the start in August 2026.
