BSO De Petteflet

BSO De Petteflet is located on the ground floor of primary school De Petteflet at Berndijksestraat 26 in Kaatsheuvel. We provide after-school care for up to 17 children aged 4 to 12. Because we are literally inside the school building, children walk straight into our group after the last lesson; it feels familiar and safe. Our pedagogical approach is based on Maria Montessori’s vision. We give children the freedom to make their own choices and discoveries. In our spacious, homely group room you will find a wide range of Montessori materials: wooden shapes for spatial insight, rainbow stacking towers, challenging puzzles and a creative studio full of paint, clay and craft supplies. Children decide for themselves what appeals to them and get started at their own pace. After school there is always time to unwind. Some children settle down with friends in the reading corner with a book or board game, others head straight into the garden to play football or build huts. We have our own green playground adjacent to the schoolyard. When the weather is nice we eat outside; when it is bad we cook together in our kitchen corner and prepare a healthy snack. Fruit and drinks are always available. During holidays and study days we run a special holiday programme. Think treasure hunts through the Bossche Broek, craft workshops in the studio, sports and games days in the gym or a visit to a petting farm. We keep the groups small and manageable so that every child receives the attention they deserve. Our pedagogical staff know the children well and work closely with the teachers of De Petteflet. This allows us to dovetail seamlessly with the school day and to quickly identify and discuss any developmental questions. We believe it is important that children feel at home with us and come back with pleasure.
