About this care
BSO Boefje at Drielse Wetering 49 in Zaandam is a small-scale, home-like after-school care centre for children aged 4 to 12. We pick the children up from various primary schools in the municipalities of Zaanstad and Wormerland with our own electric buses. After school they can play, relax and enjoy activities together with peers. We craft, cook, sing and chat in a cosy atmosphere. There is always a quiet corner for children who need a moment of rest.
During school holidays we organise extra exciting activities. Think of active outings to the climbing dunes, fairy-tale wonderland, zoos or museums. We also run creative workshops on music, dance, yoga and cooking. Each holiday has its own theme, so the children discover something new every break.
From the age of 4.5 children can take weekly swimming lessons at De Crommenije pool in Krommenie. Qualified swimming instructors from Stichting Zwembaden Zaanstad provide the lessons. Our pedagogical staff drop off and pick up the children and stay in the pool area for the entire lesson. There are no swimming lessons during the summer holidays.

Summary
BSO Boefje in Zaandam provides after-school care (BSO) for a maximum of 22 children aged 4-12 in a single base group. The location is housed in cultural center de Bovenkruier. During the unannounced annual inspection on 6 October 2025, all examined quality requirements within the themes of pedagogical climate, personnel and groups, and accommodation were fully complied with. The pedagogical policy is worked out in concrete detail in a general plan and location-specific work plan; staff members know and apply the policy. Children experience emotional safety through permanent, committed staff who know each child personally and set consistent boundaries. All employees hold the required diplomas, Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) and are correctly registered; the mandatory hours for pedagogical policy staff/coach have been calculated and fulfilled. The indoor space (81.9 m²) is safe, more than sufficient and richly furnished with diverse play corners and materials; outdoors, use is made of the nearby Jagersveld and the daycare center (kinderdagverblijf) playground. No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality not to take enforcement action.
