About this care
BSO Klein Heyendaal is located inside primary school Klein Heyendaal in Nijmegen-Oost. We provide after-school care for up to 75 children aged 4 to 13. Children are placed in fixed home groups, and we try to keep friends together as much as possible.
The afternoon starts in the home group with a drink and a healthy snack. Together we discuss the activity programme and adapt it to the children’s wishes. In our spacious group rooms children can join an activity, pick out materials themselves, do crafts, play games, build, dress up, or quietly read a book in a self-made hut.
We value outdoor play highly. Therefore, children go outside at least once a day or take a supervised walk in the woods. Our location uses the playground of Klein Heyendaal and the adjacent green areas for nature and discovery activities.
During school holidays we offer care and organise a varied holiday programme with extra time for creative and sports outings. We work closely with primary school Klein Heyendaal, so children are cared for in a familiar environment by familiar faces.Read more

Summary
The after-school care (BSO) SOOS location Klein Heyendaal in Nijmegen was inspected unannounced on 11 March 2025. The childcare meets all inspected statutory quality requirements. The pedagogical policy is up to date and well implemented; children are given room for their own input. All staff members hold a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG), are correctly registered in the PRK, and have appropriate qualifications. The staff-to-child ratio is in order and there is always at least one adult with paediatric first aid certification present. The safety and health policy is complete and adhered to; risks have been mapped and no unacceptable risks were identified. The child abuse and domestic violence reporting protocol is in place and known to the team, though there is some uncertainty regarding reporting and consultation obligations for internal roles. Parents are well informed via the website, app, and information folder; there is an active parent committee and a proper complaints procedure. No violations were found. The municipality is advised not to take enforcement action.
