About this care
Welcome to BSO ABN De Buitenkans, located at Fluessen 8 in Heerenveen. We are part of IKC de Buitenkans and provide professional after-school care for children aged 4 to 12. Our BSO is officially recognized and registered under LRKP number 310257074 and supervised by GGD Fryslân.
We offer an extended school day, where children can enjoy a safe and familiar environment after school. Our opening hours are flexible: on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday we provide after-school care from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. On Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM and on Friday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Additionally, before-school care is available on Thursday and Friday from 7:15 AM to 8:30 AM.
During study days and school holidays we are open on a limited basis. On study days from 8:15 AM to 6:00 PM and during holidays on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15 AM to 6:00 PM. We are closed for three weeks during the summer holidays and one week during the Christmas holidays.
Our location features a natural outdoor space where children can play and explore. We offer activities such as gardening, arts and crafts, and sports challenges. Children are guided by a dedicated team of pedagogical staff who work closely with the school to ensure continuous development.

Strengths
- The pedagogical policy is complete and is being followed
- Pedagogical practice scores well on all four basic objectives: emotional security, personal competence, social competence, and norms and values

Summary
After-school care (BSO) ABN De Buitenkans in Heerenveen provides care for up to 132 children aged 4-12 years in 4 to 5 base groups. The unannounced annual inspection of 23 February 2026 shows that the location meets all assessed legal requirements. The pedagogical climate, staffing, safety, and parent participation all score well. However, a violation was identified in 2025 regarding first aid (EHBO) certificates that did not meet quality standards. This has since been resolved: staff have obtained new certificates and the policy has been tightened with annual refresher courses. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality not to take enforcement measures.
