About this care
At BLOS Karawanken we provide after-school care for children aged 4 to 12 years. Our location at Karawanken 1 in Utrecht features a large, enclosed outdoor area where children can play, romp and experience adventures together after school. We create a safe and challenging environment where your child can develop by gaining experiences, making choices and discovering together with friends.
Our pedagogical staff are ready to guide children in sports activities and outdoor play. We believe children learn by doing and therefore give them all the space to move, play sports and discover nature. The spacious outdoor area is designed to challenge and stimulate children, making use of the natural environment.
As part of BLOS Kinderopvang, we work according to a modern vision of pedagogy. We want to teach children something real about themselves, others and the world around them. We do this at their own pace and in their own way, with a thoughtful approach based on the latest pedagogical insights. We see parents as partners in the adventure of parenting and therefore work closely together to get the best out of every child.
Our location accommodates up to 120 children and has been registered in the National Childcare Register since December 31, 2018 under number 115477421. We meet all national quality requirements and parents can apply for childcare allowance for care with us.Read more

Strengths

Summary
The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspected after-school care (BSO) Club Basker - Karawanken in Utrecht on 24 June 2026 following reports of high temperatures. The group rooms on the first floor were 28.1 to 31.4 °C, which was assessed as unacceptable. Although staff partially took measures (sun blinds, fans, extra drinking), management failed to act adequately: the physical education room with air conditioning was not used, groups were not split up, and closure was not considered in time. The licence holder was given a recovery offer. This was followed by closure on 25-26 June, mobile air conditioning units were installed, and new agreements were made regarding decision points for heat. Whether structural recovery has been achieved must be determined by a follow-up investigation.
