About this care
Bloomkidz Oud West B.V. is a daycare centre located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Oud-West district at Schimmelstraat 14A. Registered with the Dutch National Childcare Register (LRK) under number 152303443 since 3 December 2014, we provide care for up to 32 children aged 0 to 4 years. As part of the Bloomkidz childcare concept, our location offers a homely atmosphere where children experience nature first-hand. In our vegetable garden they playfully learn where fruit and vegetables come from and discover the rhythm of the seasons. We work in small groups so that every child has space to develop at his or her own pace. Our qualified staff give warm, personal attention and create a familiar environment in which your child feels safe and secure.Read more
Practical info
Settling in
The settling-in period lasts up to 2 weeks and takes place on the days your child is scheduled. On the first day, your child will come for an hour to get used to the setting with you present. After that, the time is gradually extended without a parent present. By the 4th visit, your child will stay for a full day. There is also an intake interview where we discuss practical arrangements and ask about your home situation, so we can align care and home life as closely as possible.

- Sufficiently qualified staff, correct child-to-staff ratios

Shortcomings
- Supervision during transition moments needs improvement: children wait too long at the table after eating, causing restlessness
Summary
On 19 May 2026, GGD Amsterdam conducted an unannounced annual inspection at daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Bloomkidz in Amsterdam. The location provides care for a maximum of 32 children in two vertical groups for children aged 0 to 4 years. The inspection assessed the pedagogical climate, staff and groups, safety and health, and parental rights. All assessed quality requirements are met. The pedagogical practice is good: staff work sensitively, stimulate language development and social interaction, and track development using the child monitoring system ZIKO. One point of attention was identified: after eating, children must wait a long time at the table while being changed one by one, which visibly causes restlessness. The location manager was consulted about appropriate guidance during transition moments. No violations were found and no recovery offer was issued.
