About this care
Welcome to Bio Kidz B.V. at Hoofdweg 235 H in the heart of Amsterdam West. We are a small-scale daycare centre with room for up to 21 children aged 0 to 4. Our two buildings stand side by side and together form one warm, safe place where every child is seen as a unique individual.
We work with vertical groups. This means babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers play and learn together. The youngest receive the calm and stimulation they need, while the older children learn to take the little ones into account. Each group has its own entrance, but is connected via a sanitary area and a bedroom. In this way children can move safely while always having a familiar face nearby.
Our adjoining garden is the pride of the location. Here all children come together to climb, discover and learn from nature. A separate screened-off corner offers the very youngest a quiet place to crawl and play. For the slightly older children there is plenty of room to run and build. We regularly take a trip to the nearby Rembrandt Park, where we walk, pick flowers and feed ducks.
Language and development are central to our daily programme. We therefore work with the recognised Uk & Puk programme. In a playful way the children practise vocabulary, motor skills and social skills. Our permanent pedagogical staff are curious every day about what is on your child’s mind. Each child is assigned a personal mentor, so there is always someone who knows exactly what he or she needs.
Healthy, organic food is a matter of course for us. We serve seasonal vegetables, whole-grain products and little sugar. Special dietary requirements are discussed with you personally, so that your child can always eat safely and enjoyably.

Practical info
Settling in
At De Kinderster, we follow a careful settling-in period of three days. On the first settling-in day, your child comes for 1 hour to get used to the group, together with parent(s)/carer(s). While the child plays in the group, the childcare practitioner and parent(s) have the intake interview and complete the accompanying forms. On the second settling-in day, the child comes for 2 hours, the first half hour together with the parent(s), after which goodbyes are said. The third settling-in day is a half day, where the parent(s) hand over the child, say goodbye and leave. The settling-in days (except for the 1st day) are scheduled from the start date. When parent(s) and/or childcare practitioners feel that the child needs more settling-in time, arrangements are made accordingly.

The pedagogical climate is assessed positively: children experience emotional safety through clear structure, sensitive responses, and stimulation of cognitive and motor development. The team consists of sufficient qualified staff (all in possession of a VOG and appropriate diploma, including baby care training for 0-year-olds), supplemented by a BBL apprentice and two additional interns. There is always at least one first-aid-certified adult present and backup available within 15 minutes. The safety and health policy is followed meticulously: children wear vests, a brought-along first aid kit and phone with attendance list are present, regular headcounts and gate checks are conducted. Parents are informed via newsletter, app, and website; the most recent inspection report is available to view online and there is an active parent committee. No violations or areas for improvement identified. The municipality is advised to accept the report for acknowledgement.
