Summary

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Batau in Nieuwegein (Stichting Kind & Co Ludens) received an unannounced incidental inspection on 21 May 2025 following a request to expand from 40 to 42 childcare places. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) found that the location had been caring for 42 children since February 2025 without immediately reporting the change to the municipality; this was treated as a recovery offer because the change form was only submitted on 24 March 2025. After this recovery, the facility meets all general quality requirements. The pedagogical policy and accommodation (more than sufficient indoor and outdoor space, separate sleeping area for babies) were assessed positively. No safety or care shortcomings were found. The municipality is advised to approve the change in the National Childcare Register (LRK).
