About this care
Welcome to Babino KDV Westzaan, our small-scale daycare centre located at Kerkstraat 2 in the quiet town of Westzaan. We provide care for up to 25 children aged 0 to 4 years in two separate groups: a baby group and a toddler group. These two groups are located next to each other and are separated by large windows and a hallway. Each group has its own space where children can play in different play corners. In the baby group, there is a separate playpen for the youngest babies where they can play quietly.
Because our location is small-scale and the groups are next to each other, there is intensive contact between both groups. This creates a sense of involvement and trust for both the children and parents as well as for our pedagogical staff. Every baby has their own rhythm, which we follow individually. Toddlers, on the other hand, have a shared rhythm throughout the day.
We believe it's important for children to play outside frequently. The adjacent outdoor playground is used by both the baby and toddler groups. While children can have fun here on bikes and in the sandbox, we often take the children out. We walk with the pushcart to various playgrounds in the neighbourhood or to the toddler playground of Peuteropvang Westzaan.
Inside, both groups often engage in arts and crafts based on different themes that change according to the seasons and holidays. All this playing makes the children hungry, of course. We provide varied meals: fruit in the morning and vegetables in the afternoon. A warm meal is offered at lunchtime, in collaboration with Apetito. The meals are adapted to the different ages of the children.
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM.Read more

GGD Inspection
Violations
Inspection date: October 14, 2025
Strengths
- Pedagogical policy and practice are well implemented; children receive emotional security and developmental stimulation
- Sufficient qualified staff members present; correct child-to-staff ratio
- Safety and health policy is up to date and being followed
- Indoor spaces are safe, more than adequate, and arranged in an age-appropriate manner
- Each child has a fixed mentor
Shortcomings
- Expand outdoor play area to at least 75 m² to meet the standard for 25 places
- Maintain a structurally sufficient pool of fixed substitute staff to ensure stability during illness
Violations
- On 3 October 2025, children were cared for outside their fixed core group for organisational reasons without fixed staff members present for them
- Outdoor space of 71 m² is smaller than the required 75 m² for 25 registered childcare places
Summary
Babino KDV Westzaan provides daycare (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) for up to 25 children in two core groups: babies (0-2 years) and toddlers (2-4 years). The annual Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 14 October 2025 concludes that the location meets statutory quality requirements in most areas. The pedagogical climate, staffing levels, safety and health policy, and indoor spaces are in order. Two violations have been identified: 1) Stability: on 3 October, two babies were temporarily moved to the toddler group for organisational reasons (illness) without fixed staff members present for them; parents had given prior consent. 2) Outdoor space: the available outdoor area of 71 m² is insufficient for 25 registered places (75 m² required). The location is exploring expansion of the play area in consultation with the municipality. No recovery offer imposed; municipality advised to enforce in accordance with policy.
