Babino KDV Darwinpark

Strengths

• Pedagogical practice shows strong attention to children's emotional safety and individual development
• Good cooperation and communication between staff members and children
• Sufficiently qualified staff with appropriate diplomas and language proficiency
• Good staff-child ratio and compliance with stability requirements (consistent caregivers, fixed groups)
• Safe and appropriately designed indoor and outdoor spaces
• Active parent committee and good information provision to parents
• Good safety and health policy with up-to-date risk assessment

Shortcomings

• Quality assurance regarding deployment of higher education students through temp agencies could be tighter: the current practice where students are temporarily hired, complete additional requirements, leave employment, and then return through a temp agency aligns less well with the intended arrangement for sustainable quality monitoring

Summary

Babino KDV Darwinpark in Zaandam, a new daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) for 32 children (0-4 years) operated by Babino B.V., was subject to an unannounced annual inspection by the Municipal Health Service (GGD) Zaanstreek-Waterland on 12 March 2026. The location, housed in the Zaans Natuur en Milieu Centrum, has two vertical groups: De Walvisjes and De Aapjes. All assessed quality requirements have been met: pedagogical climate, staff and groups, safety and health, accommodation, and parental rights. The pedagogical practice demonstrates attention to emotional safety, personal and social competencies. Staff are well qualified and the staff-child ratio is in order. There is one point of attention regarding the deployment of higher education students through temp agencies, where pedagogical quality assurance may be less adequately guaranteed. No violations were identified and no recovery offer was made.
