An after-school care (BSO) in Groningen was evacuated after staff smelled gas. At the time of the evacuation, approximately 60 children were in the facility, reports NoorderNieuws.
Gas smell discovered by staff
The staff at the BSO discovered the gas smell and immediately decided to evacuate. Firefighters and other emergency services responded to assess the situation. No information was initially released about the precise cause of the gas smell or whether there was actually a gas leak.
Evacuating a BSO with 60 children requires a well-rehearsed emergency plan. Childcare organizations are legally required to prepare for such scenarios, including clear evacuation routes and procedures for getting children to safety.
