About this care
Welcome to SKSG Preschool located at Rijksstraatweg 24 in Haren! We are a daycare centre offering a unique preschool programme in collaboration with GSV for children aged 3 to 4. Our small-scale group accommodates a maximum of 15 children and is led by two qualified staff members who speak both English and Dutch. This makes us an ideal choice for international and Dutch families alike.
Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) from the British National Curriculum. We provide a rich variety of activities focused on literacy, numeracy, music, dance and science. Children have daily access to outdoor play in our spacious garden. We operate on fixed mornings: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A minimum booking of two mornings per week is required.
Our location is situated in the same building as the International Primary School Groningen (IPS), with whom we closely collaborate. This provides an ideal preparation for both Dutch and international primary education. We maintain a healthy treat policy and accommodate allergies and dietary requirements. We prioritise personal attention and a safe, homely atmosphere. Our goal is to support each child’s optimal development across social-emotional, cognitive and physical domains. Summary
SKSG Preschool in Haren provides English-language toddler daycare for up to 15 children, four mornings per week. During the inspection on 19 March 2024, safety and health were found to be in order: clear policies are in place, a first-aid-certified staff member is always present, and risks are well mapped. However, three shortcomings were identified: the pedagogical policy does not yet comply with the new rules for multilingual care provision, staffing was insufficient on one occasion (9 children, 1 staff member), and the language of instruction is entirely English, whereas a maximum of 50% English is permitted. A trainee without a VOG (Certificate of Good Conduct) and without registration in the staff register was briefly present; this was immediately corrected following the recovery offer. The location must adjust its policy and language distribution, and monitor staffing levels more closely. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises the municipality to take enforcement action.
