About this care
Peuteropvang De Brulboei is located on the ground floor of community centre De Brulboei at Kanaalstraat 166 in the centre of IJmuiden. We provide toddler care for up to 30 children aged 2 to 4 years. Our setting uses horizontal grouping, bringing children together in age-based groups.
We follow the Startblokken pre-school education programme, which taps into toddlers’ natural curiosity: wanting to be “big”, join the world around them and keep discovering new things. Learning through play is at the heart of our approach. We are also an official BoekStart location in partnership with Bibliotheek Velsen. Our cosy reading corner is stocked with books and we regularly host reading activities for toddlers and parents to support language development.
De Brulboei works closely with primary school De Klipper and after-school care De Schipper, both located in the same building. Please note: enrolling your child at our toddler care does not automatically secure a place at De Klipper primary school; separate enrolment is required.

Peuterspeelzaal De Brulboei in IJmuiden provides care for up to 30 children aged 2-4 years in two core groups: a regular early childhood education group (16 children) and an observation group (8 children) for children with behavioural or developmental difficulties. The annual unannounced inspection on 30 September 2025 assessed the pedagogical climate, staffing, early childhood education (voorschoolse educatie/VE), and stability of care. All evaluated quality requirements were met: the pedagogical policy is complete and implemented, the pedagogical practice provides emotional safety and developmental stimulation, all staff hold the correct qualifications, VOG (Certificate of Conduct) declarations and 3F language proficiency, the staff-to-child ratio is in order (1:8 for early childhood education), group sizes are not exceeded, each child has a fixed mentor, and care is stable with familiar faces. The Startblokken early childhood education programme is systematically applied, parents are actively involved, and the transition to primary school De Klipper is carefully arranged. No violations or areas for improvement were identified.

De avond voor IJMUIDEN wat vertel je me nou,zijn best gezellig en de films veelal leerzaam. Kom het zelf maar ervaren....
