About this care
Welcome to Partou KDV Alexander Flemingstraat 24, located in the heart of Haarlem-Schalkwijk, just a stone’s throw from Marsmanplein shopping centre. Our daycare centre has provided professional childcare since 1 September 2023 for up to 32 children aged 0 to 4. We use a horizontal group structure, placing babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers in separate age groups so every child can play and develop in an environment that perfectly matches his or her stage of development.
A warm pedagogical climate is central to everything we do. Our experienced pedagogical staff follow Partou’s six building blocks: they take time for each child, provide structure and routine, stimulate language and thinking skills, offer plenty of room to move, handle media consciously and work intensively with parents. Learning through play happens in our green discovery garden, where children can ride bikes, build sandcastles and explore nature. Making music is also part of the day: singing together, practising rhythm and learning to wait for your turn.
For the very youngest we provide tailored bottle feeding, nappy changes and quiet sleeping areas with cots and beds. Toddlers and pre-schoolers receive healthy snacks with fruit and drinks, and learn to interact with peers through play. We offer both full-day and half-day care, so parents can choose the option that best suits their family. Because we are registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK number 270407601), you can apply for childcare allowance.
Our location also works closely with IKC Valeo, allowing children to move seamlessly into the toddler and primary school groups in the same building. The annual unannounced inspection on 1 April 2025 at Partou daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Alexander Flemingstraat 24 shows that the location meets most quality requirements. The pedagogical climate is good: the policy is clear, pedagogical practice provides emotional safety and developmental stimulation, and the early childhood education programme (VE) is concrete, parents are actively involved, and the transition to primary school is carefully arranged. Safety and health are sufficiently assured following recovery actions; a number of specific risks have been remedied or investigated. The accommodation meets spatial and safety requirements, although some space is temporarily reduced and there are plans for new construction. Parent participation is well organised through information, an active parent committee and a clear complaints procedure. The main shortcoming is that one staff member does not yet hold a completed appropriate vocational qualification for daycare/early childhood education, which also means the formal staff-child ratio for early childhood education is not met. Partou has taken immediate action: the staff member has started an accelerated work-based learning programme (BBL) and full qualification is expected within a year. The inspector considers continued deployment justified given the quality of practice, the stability of the vulnerable target group, and the proposed solution. Two other violations (early childhood education policy and risk assessment) have since been remedied.
