About this care
Meneer Sjaak is a small-scale after-school care facility (BSO) located at Valkenpad 1 in Leiden, on the grounds of Brede School Merenwijk. We provide care for a maximum of 11 children aged 4 to 12 years. Our BSO focuses on connection, nature experience and creativity. We give children the space to be themselves, discover their own talents and work together. Free play, reading and creative activities are central to our approach. Due to our small scale, we know each child well and can truly respond to what the child needs. After-school care (BSO) Meneer Sjaak in Leiden was inspected on 10 February 2026 by Municipal Health Service (GGD) Hollands Midden. The location, based at Bredeschool Merenwijk, accommodates a maximum of 11 children per day aged 4 to 13 years. The unannounced annual inspection showed that the location meets all assessed quality requirements regarding pedagogical climate, staff and groups, and safety and health. The pedagogical practice is characterised by a relaxed atmosphere, good communication with children and support in social interactions. The staff-to-child ratio was in order on the day of inspection, and new staff were correctly registered in the persons register. The license holder agreed with the content of the report. No violations or areas for improvement were identified.
