About this care
Welcome to KDV Jong Humsterland, located in the heart of Oldehove in the atmospheric Dorpshuis Humsterland at Englumstraat 10. We provide small-scale daycare for children aged 0 to 4 years in a homely and secure environment. Our vertical group concept means children of different ages play and learn together, with a maximum of 16 children per day. The daycare is open daily from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and is staffed by 2 to 3 permanent pedagogical professionals who give personal attention to each group.
In addition to full-day care, we offer pre-school education (VE) toddler care for children aged 2 to 4 years. This toddler school is open four mornings a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and uses the Piramide development program. Every four weeks we start a new theme full of playful activities that stimulate language development. Children with a VE indication can participate in extra mornings at no cost. Flexible care is possible: parents can choose fixed days or request flexible days via the KidsKonnect app. We also provide school pick-up and drop-off services for children in the village.
Registration is completely non-binding and free of charge. In advance, we schedule an intake interview and a settling-in session so that we can discuss the wishes and special needs of each child together with parents.Read more

Daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) Jong Humsterland in Oldehove provides care for up to 16 children in a community center with three rooms and an outdoor play area. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) inspection of 31 July 2025 concludes that the location meets all statutory quality requirements. The pedagogical climate is experienced positively: staff provide emotional security, stimulate development, guide social interaction, and maintain clear rules. The pedagogical policy plan is up to date and adhered to. Early childhood education (voorschoolse educatie/VE) is offered using the 'Piramide' programme; all VE practitioners are qualified and meet the 3F language proficiency requirement. Staff hold valid Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) declarations, appropriate qualifications, and required language skills; the staff-to-child ratio is in order and a qualified first aider is always present. The premises meet space requirements, with separate sleeping areas for babies. Parents are actively informed via the website and intake process; there is an active parent committee and a complaints procedure. No complaints were received in 2024. No violations or areas for improvement were identified. The municipality of Westerkwartier is advised not to take enforcement action.
