About this care
Sudbury BSO Amersfoort is an integral part of Sudbury School Amersfoort. We provide after-school care for up to 22 children at our location on Softwareweg 6 in Amersfoort. Our BSO is completely integrated with the school: we share the same vision, structure, and staff members who also work during regular school hours. This creates a seamless transition from school day to after-school care for your child.
Our approach is unique in the Netherlands. Children learn with and from each other in a mixed-age environment from 4 to 13 years old. The predictable structure they're familiar with from school continues during BSO hours. This means children can use the same spaces, continue the same activities, and see familiar faces around them.
We believe in self-direction and personal responsibility. Children decide for themselves how to spend their after-school time, choosing from all activities the school offers. This can range from free play to continuing their own projects, from playing together to quietly reading a book. Our supervision is there to provide support when needed, but mainly to create a safe and familiar environment where children can fully develop themselves.
For parents of students up to and including 13 years old, BSO participation is a standard part of the school agreement. This gives you as a parent the peace of mind of one location where your child stays throughout the day, without extra travel time or unfamiliar environments.Read more

- Safety and health policy (September 2025): measures regarding social safety were insufficiently described, no structural visibility of children during departure and in enclosed spaces — resolved after recovery offer (recurrence)
- Accommodation (September 2025): outdoor space was insufficiently safe, accessible and appropriately furnished; trampoline did not meet safety standards — resolved after recovery offer (trampoline removed)
Summary
The follow-up inspection on 23 June 2026 at Sudbury BSO Amersfoort shows that the location now meets all assessed requirements. The inspection followed a warning from the municipality dated 5 February 2026, due to earlier shortcomings identified during the annual inspection of 29 September 2025. The location operates according to the Sudbury concept with considerable self-direction for children. The outdoor area is now safely furnished, the pedagogical climate has improved, and the safety policy has been tightened. The previously identified violations have been resolved. The Municipal Health Service (GGD) advises no enforcement action.
