About this care
BSO Erasmusheem is a small-scale after-school care facility run by Stichting Kinderopvang Haren, located inside the renovated senior residence Erasmusheem at Erasmuslaan 23 in Haren. Since October 2018 we have welcomed up to 30 children aged 7 and older from the Nicolaasschool every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; during school holidays pupils from the Brinkschool may join as well.
Our setting sits on the edge of the village, right next to the Sassenheim nature reserve. Children are collected on foot or by bicycle by a pedagogical employee, or – with parental permission – make their own way. We use part of the communal living room in the residence: a warm, homely space where Erasmusheem residents are welcome to drop by or take part in activities, creating valuable inter-generational contact.
We believe children should direct their own afternoon. Together with our staff they decide each day’s programme: cooking or baking, organising a high-tea, crafts, bingo, football, basketball, table tennis or table football. Children who prefer to read quietly or choose free play are equally welcome. Alongside the offered activities there is always room for personal downtime, allowing every child to shape the afternoon as they wish.
Our small group size guarantees a safe, relaxed atmosphere where every child can be themselves. We work from trust, involvement and respect – values shared by Stichting Kinderopvang Haren and the warm community of Erasmusheem. Outside, the nature reserve is only steps away for fresh-air adventures; inside, the sound of playing children is often accompanied by curious residents stopping by for a chat.Read more
