We mediate between parents and childminders (gastouders) in Friesland and offer full transparency in costs. Our agency provides quality assurance, mediation, evaluation meetings, administration and training for childminders. Parents decide themselves who cares for their child, supported by our personal mediation. We offer both regular childminder care and in-home care (nanny service) at parents' homes.

Subsidy & costs

As a recognised childminder agency, parents are eligible for childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag) from the Tax Authority. Our rates are gross amounts and parents can apply for a monthly contribution via www.toeslagen.nl. The amount of the benefit depends on family income. We have a cashier function, which means that payments from parents to childminders go through our agency. Parents may not pay childminders directly and childcare benefit may not be transferred directly to childminders.

We apply transparent rates consisting of two components: an hourly rate per child of €7.00 (indicative price, childminders may set their own rate) and fixed agency costs of €42.50 per month per child. The entire hourly rate goes to the childminder. The agency costs cover quality assurance, mediation, evaluation meetings, administration and training. For in-home care (nanny service), a minimum rate applies equal to the gross minimum hourly wage plus 8% holiday allowance and paid holiday hours.

Trust & screening

We carry out thorough screening of all childminders according to legal requirements. This includes document verification of all necessary papers for registration in the National Childcare Register (LRK). We check whether registration with the municipality and GGD proceeds correctly and carry out continuous screening. Every childminder must receive at least 16 hours of mediation and guidance per year. We make at least two home visits per year to childminders and conduct annual progress interviews.

Gastouderbureau Kind aan Huis is a government-recognised and registered childminder agency (LRK 232661960, KVK 91675820). We comply with all legal requirements and are inspected annually by the GGD (Municipal Health Service). Our inspection reports are publicly available on our website. We have a parent committee, complaints procedure and work according to protocol for domestic violence and child abuse.
