GGD Limburg-Noord conducted an unannounced follow-up inspection on 2 March 2026 at childminder/host parent care (gastouderopvang) Buurman-Thomassen in Tegelen, on behalf of the municipality of Venlo. The inspection focused on two previously identified shortcomings: an expired first aid certificate and smoking in the outdoor areas. The childminder provides after-school care (BSO) to 5 children (ages 4-13). The smoking ban shortcoming has been addressed: no evidence of smoking was found. However, the first aid certificate is still not valid; the childminder has been working without this certificate since 7 September 2025, and this is the second time this shortcoming has occurred (repeat violation). The childminder wishes to stop as of 1 March 2026, but can only do so as of 1 May 2026 due to contractual obligations. The GGD advises enforcement.
