A man from the Alkmaar region threatened a daycare center (kinderdagverblijf/KDV) with the words 'I'm going to paint the walls red in there'. This was reported by the Noordhollands Dagblad. According to the newspaper, the suspect was attempting to target a mother in this way, presumably as part of a personal dispute. The threat was therefore not primarily directed at the childcare location itself, but was used as a means of pressure.

The phrase 'painting the walls red' is generally interpreted as an implicit threat of violence. Although the suspect was reportedly disturbed, this does not diminish the seriousness of the threat.
