Zuidwestervilla

Welcome to Zuidwestervilla, our homely after-school care centre located at Gasthuislaan 88 in Steenwijk. We provide care for children aged 4 to 12 in a single BSO group with 20 places. Our large, challenging indoor area invites free play, crafts, baking and inventing and carrying out activities. Children can also romp around in our outdoor space. After school we welcome the children with a healthy snack: fruit, a drink and a cracker. Children arriving at noon are offered a bread meal. We believe it is important that children can make their own choices. Therefore, we regularly organise children’s meetings where they help decide on play, materials and challenges. Together we create a stimulating programme, and every child decides for themselves whether to join in. We deliberately use different approaches for the 4-8 and 8-12 age groups. Older children are given more responsibility and extra challenges, so they too feel at home at the BSO. There is also quiet space to do or learn homework. In this way, Zuidwestervilla offers a safe, cosy place where every child can develop at his or her own pace.
