Zo KDV op 't Hummeltje/ 't Opstapje

Welcome to Zo op ’t Hummeltje, our small-scale toddler care centre in Sint-Maartensdijk. We provide regular sessional care for children aged 2 to 4 in a cosy, homely setting. Each group has a maximum of sixteen children and is guided by two consistent, dedicated pedagogical staff members. This stable group composition ensures that your child always sees familiar faces and quickly feels safe and at home. Outdoor play is central to our approach. We regularly visit our garden or the nearby playground, where the children can run, explore and develop their motor skills through play. While playing outside we sing songs together, use natural materials and stimulate imagination. We also devote a lot of attention to language: we read picture books, talk about what we see and hear and learn new words. In this way the toddlers broaden their experiential world and develop step by step. Our method is designed to let children learn with pleasure. We follow the Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme, through which we work on language, numeracy and social skills in a playful way. Activities are tailored to the world of toddlers: we craft with autumn leaves, count blocks, sing songs and practise playing together. Everything takes place in a calm, manageable setting in which every child is given space to develop at his or her own pace. Parents experience our centre as personal and committed. We communicate openly and keep parents informed of their child’s experiences through a brief report. In addition, we measure customer satisfaction annually with the VerbeterMeter and adjust our approach where necessary. In this way we keep the quality of our service high and continue to meet the needs of parents and children.
