Welcome to Zien Kinderdagverblijf Hortuslaan, our homely and intimate daycare in the heart of Haren. We provide year-round care (51 weeks) for babies and toddlers aged 0 to 4. At Hortuslaan 18 you will find two baby groups (0-2 years) and two toddler groups (2-4 years). Each group has its own familiar staff so your child always feels safe and recognised. Our location is within walking distance of the village centre and the local playground. We love to use this outdoor space: short walks or playground visits are part of the daily rhythm. Indoors we have two rich gardens where children can explore, play and grow. We believe that being outside and using natural materials sparks imagination and supports development. At Zien we follow the Reggio Emilia approach. We see children as researchers who can speak a hundred languages: music, dance, art, food, light and dark, nature, science and sport. Every day we offer different proposals, but we also take the children’s own ideas seriously. Activities arise from their interests and curiosity. Our ateliers and play areas are carefully arranged with natural materials and open-ended toys, allowing every child to discover and create in their own way. Personal contact is very important to us. Our pedagogical staff know your child inside out. We share photos, stories and developmental milestones through our app so you stay involved as a parent. In addition, our location has an active parents’ committee that advises on policy, safety and nutrition. Together we create a warm, familiar place where your child can shine. Sustainability runs through everything we do. We use as little plastic as possible, choose wooden toys and reusable materials. By spending lots of time outdoors, children learn from an early age to value nature. We are proud of our green gardens and the opportunities they offer for play and discovery.
