Zandvlinder

Welcome to Zandvlinder, a warm and ecological childcare centre located at Henri Polakstraat 7A in the heart of Dordrecht. We are a day-care centre (KDV) where children aged 0 to 4 can grow up in a safe, natural and stimulating environment. Our vision is clear: we offer organic childcare with attention to people, animals and the environment. This means we work with organic food, natural care products and a pedagogical approach that puts rest, space and respect first. Our staff are trained according to the pedagogical vision of Emmi Pikler. This means we give children the time and space to develop at their own pace. We follow the child’s rhythm, offer plenty of free play and encourage independence. Our vertical groups consist of children aged 0 to 4 who play and learn together. This promotes social development and gives younger children the chance to learn from older children. Sustainability is a high priority at Zandvlinder. We cook with organic ingredients, use eco-friendly cleaning products and have our own vegetable garden where children help with sowing, caring and harvesting. The garden is an extension of our group space: children can play, explore and learn about nature there. We spend a lot of time outdoors and experiencing nature, even in bad weather. Our opening hours are flexible: Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 18:30. Parents can choose fixed or flexible childcare days, depending on their needs. We work with small groups and a high staff ratio, so every child gets the attention they deserve. We offer half-day care and adjust the sleep rhythm to your child’s rhythm. Our sleeping areas are quiet and homely, with cots and natural materials. At Zandvlinder, we believe it is important that children feel safe and secure. We work with permanent staff who build a close bond with your child. Our approach is warm, personal and involved. We keep parents informed through personal contact and a parent committee that actively contributes to policy and development. We warmly welcome you for a tour and a personal conversation.
