Waldorfhaus de Aventurijn

Waldorfhaus de Aventurijn is our welcoming after-school care location in the heart of Rotterdam-Zevenkamp. Housed in the cultural centre Orion at Wollefoppenweg 91A, we welcome up to 20 school-aged children from the neighbourhood every day. Aventurijn is one of seven Waldorfhaus locations, an organisation providing childcare based on the anthroposophical view of the human being. Our space breathes the atmosphere that fits this vision: natural materials, soft colours and a homely interior that invites children to rest and play. The large hall offers plenty of room for creative and movement activities, while our orchard and garden form a green oasis where children can romp, garden or simply do nothing after school. We consciously work with the rhythm of the seasons: in autumn we bake apples, in spring we sow seeds and in summer we play outside for a long time. Our pedagogical staff are ready every day to pick up the children from primary schools in the immediate vicinity. On arrival, the children first get some rest and something tasty, after which they are free to choose from the range of activities. These range from free play with natural materials, crafts with wool and wood, to making seasonal pieces. We sing together, tell stories and offer space for relaxation. The vegetarian and organic snacks we serve fit our vision of healthy nutrition. At Aventurijn, we find it important that every child can be themselves. We offer a safe haven after a busy school day, where children can come to themselves and recharge for the next day. Our small scale ensures personal attention and a close-knit community of children, parents and staff.
