Rakkers

BSO Rakkers is located in De Franciscusschool at Paardebloemweide 38 in Woerden’s Molenvliet district. We provide after-school care for up to 77 children aged 4 to 12. Our location works closely with De Franciscusschool and Constantijnschool; children from both schools are welcome. Before-school care is offered on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 07:30 to 08:30. A qualified pedagogical staff member walks the children to school and ensures a smooth hand-over to the teacher. After school we use horizontal age groups so that every child finds the right balance between activity and rest. Children can join a wide range of activities: arts & crafts, group games, special themed weeks during holidays and study days, workshops and short excursions. Recently we launched an extra activity programme for the upper grades. Each month the children choose a theme themselves; matching long-term activities, workshops and outings are then organised. Their ideas, and those of parents, are actively included. Our spacious outdoor area is a natural garden with sand, shrubs, tree trunks, climbing elements and a water pump. Here children can run, hide, build and explore. The garden flows into the public playground, giving the older groups plenty of room to move. At BSO Rakkers we follow the Pedagogisch Hart of Kind & Co Ludens. This means fun, trust and space to discover are central. We believe a child can only grow when it feels safe and valued. Therefore we offer a rich, challenging environment where children can choose their own activities and learn to take each other into account. Together we form a small community in which everyone is welcome.
