Voorschool 't Klavertje

Welcome to Voorschool ’t Klavertje, located in the heart of the Jordaan district at Elandsstraat 42, Amsterdam. We are a day-care centre (KDV) for children aged 2 to 4 and part of Stichting Dynamo, an organisation with more than 40 years of experience in providing warm, safe and development-oriented childcare. Everything we do centres on discovery and independence. We follow the Montessori educational approach and offer an officially recognised Early Childhood Education programme that prepares children for primary school through play. Our rooms are equipped with authentic Montessori materials—wooden blocks, coloured glass bars and hands-on language and maths tools—allowing each child to learn at his or her own pace. We use a vertical grouping system: toddlers aged 2, 3 and 4 share one group. In this way they learn from and with each other, developing social skills and practising respect for differences. Our day follows a gentle rhythm. Each morning begins with a welcome song and circle time where we discuss language and weekly themes. Children then choose their own work: one day they might cook applesauce in the kitchen corner, the next they tend the plants on our rooftop garden or take a short walk to the local market. Music and singing are part of every day; we use simple instruments and songs to stimulate language development. In between, there is time for outdoor play, stories in the book corner or rest in our quiet room, where children can sleep on comfortable camp beds. Healthy food matters to us. We serve a hot, organic lunch, fresh fruit and plenty to drink daily. If your child has an allergy or dietary requirement, our qualified staff will adapt the menu. Nappies, wipes and care products are included so you can go to work worry-free. Safety and security are paramount. The building has a secure entrance and the rooftop terrace is fully fenced. Our permanent, qualified educators really see and track every child. Together with you as parents we form a close team: we discuss development during parent meetings and you are always welcome to join us for play or story time.
